Hawkley Brook Medical Practice and Shakespeare Surgery merge

As the Hawkley Brook Medical Practice and Shakespeare Surgery merge on 1st April 2024, we will be combining our electronic patient record systems.

This means that we will be unable to access your records for a short period from the afternoon on Monday 8th April 2024 until hopefully 08.00 on Tuesday 9th April 2024. It is possible we may have some initial problems on the morning of Tuesday 9th April while the new computer system stabilises, but we will advise if this is the case on the day.

We will not be able to offer any routine appointments or organise prescriptions after 3.30pm on Monday 8th April, and we would ask you to delay seeking help for routine appointments or prescription requests until after 09.00 on the Tuesday morning.

Our telephone lines will remain open for urgent problems and as required we will see you face to face or via the telephone in this time period. However, we may not be able to offer full advice or talk in detail about all medications, prior letters, blood tests or x-rays as we will be without access to your record.

In addition, as always in this time period you can seek help elsewhere including NHS 111, Wigan GP Alliance, Out of Hours GP service and local pharmacies which are open as usual.

Your records all remain safe and unaffected by this merger; the only issue is the ability during the coming together of the two systems for us to access or add to the records for these few hours. It may also affect patients’ ability to directly access their records electronically in the same time period.

We are sorry for the inconvenience.
